North Hills School District proudly honored our nation’s heroes on Veterans Day with heartfelt celebrations across its schools, each filled with music, gratitude and patriotism.

At Highcliff Elementary School, students welcomed veterans of all branches for the school’s annual Veterans Day celebration. The morning began with a special breakfast for veterans, the students who invited them and other family members, followed by a schoolwide assembly. Local Girl Scouts opened the program with the Pledge of Allegiance, and the Highcliff band performed a moving rendition of "America the Beautiful." One by one, each grade then performed a song or recited a poem to honor those who have served.

The celebration continued with a parade through the halls, where students and staff lined the corridors waving handmade signs and showing off classroom projects about veterans and the meaning of Veterans Day.

The building was filled with smiles, applause, and deep appreciation for the service and sacrifice of our nation’s heroes.

At West View Elementary School, the Student Council hosted a touching Veterans Day program that gave fifth graders a special opportunity to recognize parents, siblings, and grandparents who have served. Each student read a passage about their chosen veteran, sharing stories of courage, commitment, and pride.

Student Council members also spoke about the different branches of the military, highlighting the unique contributions of each. The program began with a performance of “God Bless America” by the West View band, setting a patriotic tone for the afternoon.

Across the district, North Hills students demonstrated gratitude, respect, and understanding for the men and women who defend our freedom — ensuring that the true meaning of Veterans Day lives on in the next generation.
